What is Multi-Factor Authentication? Enhanced (Multi-Factor Authentication) MFA is a multi-step login process that requires more than a password to access a system, providing an additional layer of protection against potentially compromised credentials.
What is the purpose of Identity Verification? Identity verification is designed to validate the identity of anyone who attempts to register and log in to RMIS on behalf of a carrier by matching their government issued ID against a selfie taken in real time. When will a Carrier be prompted to complete MFA and ID verification? Carriers will be prompted to set up MFA and complete the ID verification processes after they onboard with an RMIS Broker or Access the RMIS Carrier Portal.
What should I do if I want to make an exception for a carrier? Brokers are unable to make exceptions on a carrier by carrier basis.
Will a carrier be able to update their contact information without MFA/ID verification by going through a broker? Certain carriers will still be able to update their contact information in the RMIS system without completing the enhanced verification and authentication steps. Other ways they can update their contact information, is by calling in and our team will follow the 90 day contact verification procedure, they can update their contact info with the DOT.
How often will carriers have to Multi Factor Authenticate into the system? Multi-Factor Authentication registration will be required once. Carriers will then be required to utilize the MFA method every 30 days to log into the system.
How often will carriers be required to validate their identity? It will be required for carriers to validate their identity once a year or when the provided ID expires.
Will carriers have the option to defer ID Verification? Yes! Carriers will have the option to select Skip For Now to defer ID Verification.
Will RMIS remember a carrier's credentials? Carriers will have the option to check the Trust This Device for 30 days box, located on the log in screen, for RMIS to remember their credentials.
How many attempts will carriers have to log in to RMIS? After 5 unsuccessful attempts to log in, carriers accounts will be locked for 5 minutes. After the 5 minutes have passed, carriers can then press Reset Password to set a new password.
